KREMA FESTIVAL

Das Kurationsteam des KREMA-Festivals besteht aus Jeannette Hunziker, Stefan Maurer und Zoë Binetti. Wir arbeiten alle drei international sowie Bern bezogen, einerseits in unserer jeweils eigenen künstlerischen Praxis, andererseits in vermittelnden und kuratierenden Rollen. 

Was uns zur Realisation eines Festivals am Krematorium Bern gebracht hat, ist ein gemeinsames Interesse an einer künstlerischen Herangehensweise, die eine gelebte, haptische Beziehung mit dem Unbekannten eingeht und vermittelt. 

Das KREMA-Festival findet 2023 zum zweiten Mal statt in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Bernischen Genossenschaft für Feuerbestattung (bgf) und deren Geschäftsführerin Silvana Pletscher. 

Für die diesjährige Ausgabe haben wir über ein Open-Call Verfahren nach Kunstschaffenden gesucht, welche ihre Praxis als Interface zwischen Leben und dem Tod verorten. 

Die aus rund 500 Einsendungen ausgewählten Positionen werden als vielschichtiges Programm am Festival zu erleben sein.

The curatorial team of the KREMA Festival consists of Jeannette Hunziker, Stefan Maurer and Zoë Binetti. All three of us work internationally as well as in Bern, on the one hand in our own artistic practice, on the other hand in mediating and curating roles.

What brought us to the realization of an art festival at the Crematorium Bern is a common interest in an artistic approach that enters into and mediates a lived, haptic relationship with the unknown.

In 2023 the KREMA Festival will take place for the second time – in close collaboration with the Bernese Cooperative for Cremation (bgf) and its managing director Silvana Pletscher.

For this year’s edition, we launched an open-call to search for artists who locate their practice as an interface between life and death.

The positions selected from around 500 submissions will be presented as a multi-layered program at the festival.
